The story of our directors
HF Joubert and Carol Joubert, began when they moved from Gauteng to Hazyview, Mpumalanga, to pursue farming. Soon after settling on their farm, they realized there were no schools nearby for their four-year-old son, Johnny. Seeing this need, Carol decided to start a preschool so that Johnny would have a place to learn and grow. This small initiative became Panda Preschool. The school was based on Christian values as Teacher Carol believed that, in those years of apartheid, God designed the school for His glory. The Preschool grew into five classes thanks to our wonderful parents in the early years, namely the Silinda family whose girls were among the first to join, and other amazing parents too many to mention. Koetso Theledi was our first little girl from the local community to join.
This preschool eventually fed the first-ever Grade 1 students for Hazyview Primary School. What started as a simple preschool for one child grew over the years into a full-fledged school, developing into the thriving institution we know today.
Our Story
Hazyview Primary School began as Panda Preschool in 1991, founded with a dream to provide exceptional early childhood education. Over the past 35 years, that dream has grown into one of the most respected primary schools in the Hazyview community. Today, we continue to uphold the values of excellence, innovation, and care, ensuring every child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our Curriculum
We proudly follow the CAPS Curriculum, accredited by Umalusi, guaranteeing quality education from Grade 1 to Grade 7. Our learners are prepared for the future through:
✔ E-learning for Grades 5–7 (tablet-based learning instead of textbooks)
✔ Computer Literacy from Grade R to Grade 7
✔ Robotics & Coding, introduced in 2024 for 21st-century skills
✔ Modern teaching methods combined with strong academic foundations
